CENTRAL GLASS FIBER CO., LTD.

Adhesive strength of Glass cord

1. Specimen
The specified number of bobbin shall be sampled from one lot.
The specimen shall be taken above sampled bobbins in 7m after 1m is rejected.
2. Preparation of test specimen
1) Cut rubber compound (thickness: about 2.5mm) into size of 120mm*150mm.
2) The surface of rubber sheet is cleaned by toluene or MEK.
3) Adhere double side adhesive tape on both side of rubber sheet.
4) Put glass cord in parallel side by side on rubber sheet and put two piano
strings(1mm phi,120mm length)on every 25mm spacing. And spacing rubber(thickness:about 1.5mm) shall be added
on both side of specimen to adjust thickness.
5) Adhere double side adhesive tape on both side of glass cord.
6) Put nylon fabric on glass cord.
7) Vulcanization
(a) Specimen shall be weighed about 120 grams,if less, add some rubber to the specimen up to 120 grams .
(b) Hold specimen between mold(preheated at vulcanization temperature for more than 40 minutes).
(c) Set hold to press machine, press under pressure of 30kg/cm2 and keep for 20min at vulcanization temperature.
(d) Test specimen, which has been kept at room temperature for over 24 hrs after molding, are cut along the piano string.
3. Measurement
1) Test specimen is mounted on tensile strength test machine.
2) Measure peeling load with 50mm/min of crosshead speed.
4. Report
Draw up a curve of the tensile load on a graph paper and obtain the maximum
tensile load except first apex(higher numerical value)of the wavy portion.
Then make it as adhesive strength.
Adhesive strength shall be reported in N/25mm to integer.
